Dr. Edward G. Brown
Expert Chemistry Services
I'm a chemistry expert with over twenty-five years of laboratory research experience, over five years of patent work experience, and over twenty years of experience assisting attorneys in chemistry cases as a chemistry expert and expert witness.
I earned my B.S. degree in chemistry from the University of California, Berkeley, and my Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of California, Davis. In addition, I received post-doctoral research fellowships from the University of Auckland, NZ and Yale University. I pursued chemical analysis and chemistry research related to methodology development in organic chemistry at these institutions.
I have also worked in a number of biochemical and pharmaceutical companies during my career as a research chemist, staff scientist, and senior research scientist. Currently, I provide my clients with in-lab contract chemistry research expertise and expert witness services. In addition, I have assisted patent attorneys with drafting and prosecution of chemistry and biochemistry related patents.
I have co-authored over twenty chemistry articles and am a co-inventor on ten U.S. patents. I am familiar with voir dire and have been deposed. I have also testified in state and federal courts around the country as a chemistry expert in both criminal and patent litigation cases.
My expertise as a chemistry expert in criminal drug cases has expanded over the years and includes advising in the areas of analysis, possession, manufacturing, and sale of the following illicit drugs: methamphetamine, amphetamine, cocaine, LSD, MDMA, benzodiazepines, and synthetic cannabinoids, as well as many less well-known substances.
